Position Overview
The Head Engineering will lead and manage the complete engineering design function for large-scale residential projects, commercial, infrastructure, and integrated development projects. The role demands strategic leadership across Architectural Design, Structural Engineering, MEP Systems, Utilities, Sustainability, Design Coordination, and Technical Governance aligned with regular engineering and execution standards.
The incumbent will ensure world-class engineering design, cost optimization, constructability, sustainability, safety compliance, digital engineering integration, and timely delivery of multidisciplinary engineering packages for mega construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
1. Engineering & Design Leadership
· Lead the overall engineering and multidisciplinary design management function for all infrastructure projects.
· Develop engineering strategies, technical standards, and design governance frameworks.
· Establish best practices for architectural, structural, and MEP engineering excellence.
· Drive innovation, digital engineering adoption, and sustainable infrastructure development.
2. Architectural Design Management
· Lead conceptual, schematic, detailed, and execution-stage architectural design development.
· Coordinate with architects, consultants, planners, and local authorities.
· Ensure optimization of:
o Space planning
o Functional efficiency
o Sustainability
o Aesthetic standards
o Lifecycle cost
o Buildability
· Review master planning, façade systems, interior coordination, landscaping integration, and smart building concepts.
· Ensure compliance with NBC, local development regulations, fire norms, environmental guidelines, and green building standards.
3. Structural Engineering Management
· Lead structural design review and engineering optimization for:
o High-rise buildings
o Industrial structures
o Commercial complexes
o Data centers
o Township infrastructure
o Heavy utility structures
· Ensure structural safety, seismic compliance, durability, and value engineering.
· Review:
o RCC & steel structural systems
o Foundation systems
o PEB structures
o Advanced structural methodologies
· Coordinate with geotechnical consultants and proof consultants.
· Ensure adherence to IS Codes, international standards, and constructability requirements.
4. MEP Engineering & Utilities Management
· Lead complete MEP engineering design including:
o HVAC systems
o Electrical systems
o ELV systems
o Fire protection systems
o Plumbing & water management
o STP/WTP systems
o Gas distribution systems
o Building automation systems
o Smart utility integration
· Ensure energy-efficient and sustainable MEP solutions.
· Drive coordination among MEP consultants, contractors, vendors, and execution teams.
· Ensure design compatibility with operations and maintenance requirements.
5. Design Coordination & BIM Management
· Lead multidisciplinary engineering coordination across architecture, structure, MEP, and infrastructure.
· Implement design coordination and clash detection processes.
· Drive digital engineering tools including:
o Digital twins
o Smart construction platforms
o Integrated project monitoring systems
· Ensure timely issuance of coordinated construction drawings and technical documentation.
6. Project Engineering & Technical Support
· Provide engineering support during construction and execution phases.
· Resolve technical design conflicts and site engineering challenges.
· Monitor design deliverables, engineering schedules, and consultant performance.
· Participate in technical reviews, risk assessments, and value engineering workshops.
7. Quality, Compliance & Sustainability
· Ensure engineering compliance with:
o National Building Code (NBC)
o IS Standards
o Fire & Safety regulations
o Environmental norms
o ESG standards
o LEED/IGBC/GRIHA requirements
· Lead technical audits, QA/QC processes, and engineering reviews.
· Promote sustainable engineering and low-carbon construction initiatives.
8. Vendor & Consultant Management
· Manage architects, structural consultants, MEP consultants, PMCs, and specialist agencies.
· Review technical proposals, consultant capabilities, and design deliverables.
· Participate in consultant selection, contract negotiations, and performance evaluation.
9. Team Leadership & Capability Development
· Build and lead high-performing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
· Mentor engineering managers, architects, structural engineers, and MEP leads.
· Foster a culture of innovation, technical excellence, accountability, and collaboration.
Educational Qualification
· Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering / Architecture
· Registered Architect / Chartered Engineer certification preferred

Experience Required
· 25+ years of experience in engineering design and project delivery within large-scale construction and real estate organizations.
· Proven leadership in handling mega projects involving:
o Commercial developments
o Industrial projects
o Integrated townships
o Smart infrastructure
o High-rise developments
o Data centers
o Industrial parks
· Prior experience in large EPC firms, multinational developers, or infrastructure conglomerates preferred.
