Desk Engineer (P48 MW) power plant

Purpose of the Position (Job Summary)

Smooth, reliable & efficient operation of 48 MW Power Plant in a shift. Efficient operations of P.F. Boiler, Steam Turbine & BOP as per SOP and within SOC limits. Start/ stop of plant & act smartly during emergency situations. Strictly adhere to water & steam quality during shift operation.

 Providing direction to the team to ensure operational strategies are executed in a manner that is in alignment with the organizational strategic plan.

 Focus on cost optimization by yield improvements, energy conservation, minimizing downtime, minimizing losses and effective utilization of available resources (chemicals).

 Coordinate & work closely with the internal & external stake-holders to achieve operational excellence.

People Orientation

 Review performance of direct repartees and provide development inputs.

 Nurturing of team and new team member.

Core operational accountabilities Operation.

 Responsible for the DCS operation of P.F. Boiler, Steam Turbines & Cooling Tower.

 Operations under normal functioning, emergency and shut down.

 Monitor the plant parameters and performance in the shift and to ensure power generation as per the target.

 Operate the plant in accordance with the technical parameters

 Operate the plant in such a manner that desired PLF is achieved.

 Coordinate with Electrical, C&I and maintenance team, for routing maintenance for safely working on equipment during shift.

 Maintaining/preparing Daily Generation Report, chemical report and water consumption report.

 Co ordinate with field staff for routine activities, equipment isolation & restoration.

 Co ordinate with lab for water & steam quality reporting.

Quality / Environment / Health & Safety Management

 Operate the plant within environmental norms.

 Co ordinate with lab for steam & water quality management.

 Efficiency improvement

 Monitor continual improvement in the operational parameters of plant.

 Operate the plant as per SOP’s.

 Ensure implementation and adherence to all quality and other initiatives laid down by the company from time to time, such as ISO, TPM etc. for equipment maintenance and safety.

Project/Commissioning Support

 Actively involved in commissioning/pre-commissioning of Boiler, Turbine and BOP.

 To ensure all equipments are commissioned as per guideline/procedure given by OEM.

 Preparation of commissioning procedures/commissioning schedule and maintaining of commissioning records.

Technical & Behavioral Skills & Knowledge

 BE/B Tech Mechanical: 5-8 Years of Experience in Thermal power plant operation as Desk Engineer of Power

plant capacity more than 40 MW.

 Experience in operations of CFBC & P.F. Boilers, steam turbine, AHP and Air & Fuel handling system

 Candidate should have thorough knowledge of Thermal plant operations.

 Should have start/ stop/ emergency shutdown of Boiler & Turbine. Should handles emergencies like black outs,

cascade tripping etc.

 Candidates with Boiler Operation Engineer Certificate are preferred.

 Knowledge of Pre-commissioning and Commissioning of Boiler Turbine and Its Auxiliary..
