An IT-OT (Information Technology - Operational Technology) Engineer manages and optimizes the integration and operation of IT and OT systems to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient manufacturing processes. They coordinate between IT and OT teams to support the company's manufacturing technology needs, bridging the gap between traditional IT infrastructure and operational technology used in manufacturing environments. This role involves handling shop floor machines, integrating advanced data extraction techniques, and utilizing lloT platforms to drive innovation and operational efficiency
Qualifications - 5-7 years / BE or BTech/ ITIL certification along with necessary engagement
System Operations: Ensure the seamless and secure operation of both on-premise IT infrastructure and operational technology (OT) systems, including shop floor machinery.
Performance Monitoring: Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement optimizations for both IT and OT infrastructure.
Project Leadership: Lead projects encompassing system upgrades, new technology implementations, and integrations between IT systems and manufacturing OT systems. Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure IT and OT systems comply with industry regulations and standards. Security Implementation: Implement robust security measures to protect sensitive data and intellectual property in both IT and OT environments.
Vendor Coordination: Liaise with IT and OT vendors and service providers to acquire technology solutions. Employee Training: Train employees on new technologies and software, including IT and OT systems. Documentation: Develop and maintain support documentation and resources for IT and OT systems. Data Management: Oversee data backup and recovery processes for both IT and OT data, ensuring the integrity and availability of critical data related to manufacturing and operations.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of IT and OT systems, incidents, and support activities. Reporting: Provide regular reports on IT and OT performance and issues to management, including system usage and performance metrics.
Access Management: Manage user accounts and permissions to ensure appropriate access to IT and OT systems and data based on job roles and security policies.
IAM Best Practices: Implement and enforce best practices for identity and access management (IAM) in IT and OT environments.
Technology Trends: Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends that could benefit the organization. Recommend innovations, including IT-OT integration solutions, that could enhance manufacturing processes.
Data Extraction: Utilize expertise in HMI dashboards, PLC, and CNC systems for data extraction and analysis.
lloT Platform Utilization: Work on ThingWorx Platform (IIoT Platform - PTC) to integrate and analyze data from various OT systems.
Key Skills
Technical Expertise: Expertise in IT and OT systems, networks, hardware, and software, including familiarity with industry-specific systems used in manufacturing.
Shop Floor Management: Ability to handle entire shop floor machines, ensuring optimal performance and integration with IT systems. Infrastructure Knowledge: Basic infrastructure and server knowledge to support IT and OT operations.
HMI and PLC Proficiency: Expertise in HMI dashboards along with PLC and CNC systems for data extraction and operational efficiency. IloT Platform Experience: Experience working on ThingWorx Platform (IIoT Platform - PTC) for advanced data integration and analysis. Data Analysis: Basic knowledge of Power BI, NoSQL, and SQL for data analysis and reporting.
IT Architecture and Networks: Understanding of IT architecture and network principles to support seamless IT-OT integration.
Fieldbus Systems: Knowledge of Fieldbus systems for industrial communication and control.
Data Science: Appreciation of data science principles to drive data-driven decision-making and innovation.
Project Management: Ability to plan, execute, and oversee IT-OT projects, managing timelines, resources, and stakeholders, including integration projects. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with staff, vendors, and management, and to document technical procedures and issues clearly.
Multi-Tasking: Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities efficiently, ensuring smooth IT and OT operations.
Cybersecurity Knowledge: Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and measures to protect sensitive information and ensure compliance with regulations in both IT and OT environments.
Vendor Management: Skills in negotiating and managing relationships with IT and OT service providers and vendors.
Training Capability: Capability to educate staff on new technologies, including IT and OT systems, and provide ongoing technical support.
