Purpose of the Position (Job Summary)

To ensure availability of coal/Ash & lime handling plant at all times with minimum down time and costs to contribute to minimum production loss at the power plant and plan for medium term and long term health of coal handling plant.

Key Individual Accountabilities

Strategy · Providing direction to the team to ensure operational strategies are executed in a manner that is in alignment with the organizational strategic plan.

Financial § Prepare annual budget for operation, Maintenance. & Shutdown. § Monitoring & control of Operation and maintenance budget. § Develop costs for in-house and contracted maintenance for preparation of budgets. § Develop local vendors for material and services..

Orientation § Coordinate & work closely with the internal & external stake-holders to achieve operational excellence.

Core operational

accountabilities Operation & Maintenance · Maintenance of entire material handling system including Coal /Ash and lime handling system & Coal mills · Operation & Maintenance of stacker , reclaimer & Truck Tripler · Ensure compliance with the maintenance schedule of the plant and monitor preventive, predictive and annual maintenance activities for all Material handling equipments at the power plant. · Planning of resource requirement for preventive, predictive and shutdown maintenance. · Guide/Execute Guide the Maintenance team/contractor for day to day maintenance activates and shut-down activity. · Coal management including Coal receipts, stocking & reclaiming, fuel mixing as per operation requirement, sampling, stock stacking · Coal and lime processing from the yard up to bunker. · Ensuring the proper sizing, screening and transportation via coal conveyors. · Proper operation and maintenance of coal handling plant equipments like crushers, vibrators, screens & belt conveyors etc. · Housekeeping and pollution control. · Coal stock monitoring. Coordination with procurement and O&M team. Preparation of daily and monthly reports. Coal testing assistance and record keeping.

· Establishes repair maintenance procedures. · Provide overall direction and guidance for operation & maintenance activities. · To ensure safe working atmosphere by following industry best practices, develop SOP and aim zero accident. · Process monitoring § To ensure that Plant operational are in accordance daily coal consumption with required quality of coal. § Maintaining stoke of difference type of coal as per consumption patterns, Ensure inventory & availability dry coal during monsoon season. · Inventory planning and procurement support § Plan and ensure material availability of major equipments and spares required for day to day repairs and maintenance activities and comply with budgeted inventory requirements. · Quality / Environment / Health & Safety Management § Ensure compliance with all regulations * Ensure compliance with all safety, environment and regulatory guidelines applicable to power plant. § Water management during rainy season including operation & Maintenance of Coal yard runoff water system and adhere to environment norms of water discharge. · Efficiency improvement § Benchmark operation systems with best practices available to improve reliability of coal plant equipment. § Involve in identifying, recommending and implementing new operations and maintenance strategy for plant . · Project/Commissioning Support § Assist for project & Commissioning activities by preparing SOP, Check list ,Schedules, cost estimates and schedules, monitoring deliveries, equipment installation and commissioning.

Technical & Behavioral Skills & Knowledge

· BE/B Tech Mechanical : 10-15 Years of Experience in coal handling system having capacity more than 150 TPH with Sound knowledge of mechanical engineering &material handling system..

· In-depth maintenance knowledge of coal handling equipment like belt conveyers, vibrating feeder, vibrating screen, coal crusher, de-dusting system. etc.

· Knowledge of safe handling & storage of coal, well aware about fossil fuel properties.

· Maintenance & Operation knowledge of Coal Mill.

· Understanding of Thermal Power Plant functions

· Knowledge of Pre-commissioning and Commissioning of CHP/AHP.

· Knowledge of ISO / OHSAS processes/BSC/RC. 

· Operational knowledge of computers (including SAP HANA)
