Purpose of the Position (Job Summary)
Smooth, reliable & efficient operation of 48MW Power Plant having Boiler technology of Pulverized Fuel firing. Efficient operations of PF Boiler, Steam Turbine & BOP as per SOP and within SOC limits. Start/ stop of plant & act smartly during emergency situations.
Strictly adhere to water & steam quality during shift operation.
Key Individual Accountabilities
Strategy § Support plant leadership in achieving long-term reliability, availability, and efficiency goals. § Execute shift activities aligned with production strategy, energy optimization, and cost-reduction initiatives. § Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation in DCS operations. § Ensure all actions on shift protect the asset health and extend equipment life
Financial § Monitor and optimize fuel consumption, heat rate, auxiliary power, and chemical usage to minimize operating cost. § Track and report shift-wise KPIs (generation, consumables, efficiency indicators). § Support adherence to annual O&M budgets through responsible decision-making.
Customer/ External
Orientation § Maintain continuous and accurate communication with internal and external stake holders, process units, utility consumers, and pipeline customers. § Ensure zero interruption in power/steam supply to internal and externaal customers.
People Orientation § Lead, guide, and supervise field operators, technicians, and shift support staff with clarity and calmness. § Build a culture of safety, discipline, and ownership on the shift. § Coach young operators on DCS logic, SOPs, emergency procedures, and plant fundamentals. § Ensure proper shift handover, workforce allocation, and adherence to SOPs.
Core operational
Operation. · Responsible for the DCS operation of PF Boiler, Steam Turbines & Cooling Tower. · Operations under normal functioning, emergency and shut down. · Monitor the plant parameters and performance in the shift and ensure power generation as per the target. · Operate the plant in accordance with the technical parameters · Operate the plant in such a manner that desired PLF is achieved. · Coordinate with Electrical, C&I and maintenance team, for routing maintenance for safely working on equipment during shift. · Maintaining/preparing Daily Generation Report, chemical report and water consumption report. · Co-ordinate with field staff for routine activities, equipment isolation & restoration. · Co-ordinate with lab for water & steam quality reporting.
Quality / Environment / Health & Safety Management · Operate the plant within environmental norms. · Co-ordinate with lab for steam & water quality management. · Efficiency improvement § Monitor continual improvement in the operational parameters of plant. § Operate the plant as per SOP’s. § Ensure implementation and adherence to all quality and other initiatives laid down by the company from time to time, such as ISO, TPM etc. for equipment maintenance and safety.

Technical & Behavioral Skills & Knowledge
· BE/B Tech Mechanical: 5-8 Years of Experience in Thermal power plant operation as Desk Engineer of Power plant with reheat cycle.
· Experience in operations of PF Boilers, steam turbine, AHP and Air & Fuel handling system
· Candidate should have thorough knowledge of Thermal plant operations.
· Should have start/ stop/ emergency shutdown of Boiler & Turbine. He Should handle emergencies like black outs, cascade tripping etc.
· Candidates with Boiler Operation Engineer Certificate are preferred.
· Knowledge of Pre-commissioning and Commissioning of Boiler Turbine and Its Auxiliary.
