Turbine Operator Power Plant

Purpose of the Position (Job Summary)

To ensure Reliable & efficient operation of 48 MW Turbine , Utilities & BOP equipments at all times with minimum down time and costs to contribute to minimum production loss at the power plant and plan for medium term and long term health of plant.

 Providing direction to the team to ensure operational strategies are executed in a manner that is in alignment with the organizational strategic plan.

Financial

 Focus on cost optimization by yield improvements, energy conservation, productivity improvement & minimizing downtime, minimizing fix expenses and effective utilization of available resources.

 Prepare annual budget for operation, Maintenance. & Shutdown.

 Monitoring & control of Operation and maintenance budget.

 Develop costs for in-house and contracted maintenance for preparation of budgets.

 Develop local vendors for material and services..

Customer/ External Orientation

 Coordinate & work closely with the internal & external stake-holders to achieve operational excellence.

People Orientation

 Review performance of direct repartees and provide development inputs through identification

of training needs and nominating for training programs.

 Nurturing of power plant team and new engineer.

 Responsible for solving and managing all issues within team,

Core operational accountabilities

Operation & Maintenance

 Extensive knowledge and background in Operation & maintenance of coal base Thermal Power Plant having capacity more than 50 MW.

 Repair, overhaul of steam turbine, heat exchangers, compressors, pumps and other BOP equipments.

 Maintain healthiness & availability of R.O. plant & fire water pumps.

 Perform direct repair, preventative maintenance, and predictive maintenance tasks on power plant equipments.

 Responsible for the operation of steam Turbines, Cooling Tower, R.O. plant & BOP.

 Achieved targeted PLF, Turbine heat rate & overall plant heat rate.

 To monitor performance for efficient utilization of resources.

 Preparation/review MIS, Daily report & Monthly repairs.

 Establishes repair maintenance procedures.

 Provide overall direction and guidance for operation & maintenance activities.

 To ensure safe working atmosphere by following industry best practices, develop SOP and aim zero accident.

 Guide the Operation & Maintenance team for day to day Operation & maintenance activates and shut-down activity

 Process monitoring

 Review and analysis of critical parameters of Turbine & BOP and provide guidance on corrective action to be taken.

 To ensure that Plant operational are in accordance with the technical parameters

 Inventory planning and procurement support

 Plan and ensure material availability of major equipments and spares required for day to day

repairs and maintenance activities and comply with budgeted inventory requirements.

 Quality / Environment / Health & Safety Management

 Ensure compliance with all regulations * Ensure compliance with all safety, environment and regulatory guidelines applicable to power plant.

 Efficiency improvement

 Benchmark operation systems with best practices available to improve reliability of Turbine, R.O. Plant & BOP equipments.

 Involve in identifying, recommending and implementing new operations and maintenance strategy for plant

 Ensure implementation and adherence to all quality and other initiatives laid down by the company from time to time, such as ISO, BSC, TPM etc. for equipment maintenance and safety.

 Project/Commissioning Support

 To take lead role for project & Commissioning activities by preparing SOP, Check list ,Schedules, cost estimates and schedules, monitoring deliveries, equipment installation and commissioning.

Technical & Behavioral Skills & Knowledge

 Graduate Mechanical Engineer having 10 to 15 years of Experience in Operation and Maintenance and, major overhauling of Steam turbine and other auxiliary of power plant Capacity more than 50 MW. Preferably BOE.

 Knowledge of Power Plant

 In-depth knowledge of Boiler, Turbine and allied equipment / machinery

 Maintenance & Operation knowledge of Rotating Equipments like BFP, CEP, Cooling water pumps ,Air Compressor, CTID Fans etc.

 Knowledge of Pre-commissioning and Commissioning of Boiler, Turbine and BOP.

 Knowledge of ISO / OHSAS processes/BSC/RC

 Operational knowledge of computers (including SAP HANA)
