Purpose of the Position (Job Summary)
· Responsible for leading and managing all process engineering activities for new projects ((both new and improvement project) from concept development till commission.
· This includes process Design, safety and operability requirement, Basic engineering package and full guidance for commissioning and start up etc.
· The role demands strong technical expertise, leadership and co-ordination skills to integrate mechanical systems with process, piping, E&I and civil disciplines.
Key Individual Accountabilities
Strategy · Workout feasibility study based on market/business input for providing support to management to take decision on new projects/improvement proposals ·
Finalization of Design philosophy documents covering energy & mass balance understanding for new business proposals (new products/infrastructure development) with the guidance of Business team/Management direction. · Prioritise process safety management ( PSM)-ensure HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, SIL studies are executed ·
Drive value engineering initiatives to reduce project cost and execution time. ·
Maintain awareness of industry and technology trends to ensure that DCM Shriram is currently in developmental efforts to supply new and innovative offerings
Financial · To study and prepare the budget of the Process Improvement Schemes of the plant and timely implementation of various CAPEX schemes through co-ordination with engineering/Project department.
· Ensure achievement of cost saving initiatives to achieve targeted savings in the given time frame
· Identify potential cost saving areas & improvement areas.
· Formulate improvement proposals and ensure its implementation.

· Ensure that all communications from the department to customers is prompt and courteous.
· Work with external clients in a professional manner to deliver agreed level of service with context set by Senior Management.

Core operational accountabilities
Process Improvement: · Lead preparation of process heat & Material balances through block flow diagrams (BFD) activities during feasibility and basic engineering phase · Develop process flow diagrams (PFD’s), Piping and instrumentation diagrams ( P&I Ds) to deliver plant design activities · Develop equipment specifications and datasheets for static and rotary equipment (pumps, compressors, heat-exchanges, reactors, pressure vessels, tanks, utilities etc) · Developing plant layout as per process needs to utilize maximum gravity flow possibilities on the material movement · Develop standard operating procedures (SOP) with dos and don’ts for plant operation covering safety and environmental aspects · Review vendor drawings, GA, fabrications details and ensure compliance with design codes (ASME,API, IS, TEMA etc)
· Ensure equipment selection aligns with process requirements, safety standards and cost optimization · Provide necessary inputs to other disciplines like Civil, mechanical and E&I team to perform their activities for fulfilling basic engineering needs · Process volume, equipment weights, Electrical load list, instrument list and control philosophy etc to be generated as a standard documents for all new projects. · Develop, support and promote standardized systems and processes. · HAZOP study and safety audit of the system · Interacting with technology/equipment suppliers for achieving performance parameters. Risk Management · Identify process risks early and integrate safety-in-design principles · Oversee preparation of hazard studies through HAZOP and QRA. · Ensure implementation of process safety elements like relief valve sizing, dispersion modeling and SIL · Ensure operability and maintainability considerations are embedded. · Ensure the integrity of technical services data and records. Quality, Safety and Environment Observation
· Demonstrates a high concern for the health and safety of self and others. Act and lead personnel to a professional standard with respect to safety and environmental issues · Direct and monitor to ensure safety and adherence of statutory compliance related to Safety, Health and Environment to provide safe working environment · Ensure the compliance to the gaps identified during the Safety Audits. · To ensure accident-free operations and ensure compliance of all safety requirements as stipulated by the Factories Act & Environment related statutory requirements. · Identify best safety practices and train the people to adopt the practices. · Percolate safety awareness in the department by interaction. · Ensure compliance to all Pollution Control norms.
System Management
· To ensure implementation of Integrated Management System, British Safety Council, Responsible Care procedures and systems like TQM, TPM, KAIZEN, SIX Sigma for the function. · Review audit reports and plan for improvement.

Technical & Behavioral Skills & Knowledge
Qualification:
· BE/ME Chemical with minimum 10 to 12 yrs of experience in a broad range of technical and Operational roles in Technical Services. Working in Chlor-Alkali manufacturing organizations will be added advantage.
