Purpose of the Position (Job Summary)
Smooth, reliable & efficient operation of 240 TPH PF Boiler in a shift. Assisting Desk engineers and shift in charge during Start/ stop of plant & act smartly during emergency situations. Sample preparation for water and ash.
Key Individual Accountabilities
Strategy § Support smooth and reliable boiler operation by executing field tasks exactly as directed by the DCS engineer. § Act as the frontline observer, ensuring early detection of abnormalities to prevent outages. § Contribute to long-term plant reliability through disciplined routine checks and continuous improvement inputs.
Financial § Prevent losses by identifying leaks, inefficient combustion behaviour, unusual noises, and equipment abnormalities early. § Support energy-saving initiatives by giving practical field ideas and monitoring consumption points. § Minimize fuel wastage by ensuring stable bed conditions and correct fuel/limestone flow in CFBC systems.
Customer/ External
Orientation § Help maintain consistent and reliable steam generation to meet internal customer needs. § Maintain safe environmental compliance by ensuring ESP/AHP systems are functioning correctly. § Maintain plant cleanliness and housekeeping to reflect a professional, compliant operation.
People Orientation § Work as the hands, eyes, and ears of the DCS engineer — reporting observations clearly, truthfully, and on time. § Cooperate with mechanical, electrical, and CHP/AHP teams for quick issue resolution. § Support new operators with on-job learning and safe operating habits. § Guiding and training support staff or helpers § Providing TBT/LMRA to the work force
Core operational
accountabilities Operation. · Perform routine field rounds in PF boiler areas including furnace, cyclone, loop seal, seal pot, feeders, ESP, APH, fans, and ash-handling equipment. · Monitor and record operational data in log sheets/logbooks as per schedule. Check: · Bed temperature zones & material condition · Air system dampers and pressures · Fuel/limestone feeders · ID/FD/PA fan health · Ash handling lines, hoppers & conveying · Reheater inspections (for RH units) · Support start-up and shutdown tasks in coordination with the DCS engineer. · Prepare samples (bed material, ash, coal) and deliver them to the lab.
· Maintain strict housekeeping in operating areas. · Raise alarms for any abnormal sound, vibration, leakage, smell, hot spots, or inconsistent readings. · Suggest improvements for safety, reliability, or energy savings. Quality / Environment / Health & Safety Management · Co-ordinate with lab for steam & water quality management. · Efficiency improvement § Monitor continual improvement in the operational parameters of plant. § Operate the plant as per SOP’s. § Ensure implementation and adherence to all quality and other initiatives laid down by the company from time to time, such as ISO, TPM etc. for equipment maintenance and safety.

Technical & Behavioral Skills & Knowledge
· Diploma Mechanical: 5-8 Years of Experience in Thermal power plant operation as Boiler operator, worked in large capacity PF boilers i.e > 200TPH capacity boilers
· Experience in operations of PF Boilers, AHP and Air & Fuel handling system
· Should have start/ stop/ emergency shutdown of Boiler
· Candidates with Second class or first class Boiler attendant Certificates are preferred.
