Job Role: IBM DB2 Admin
Requirements:
• Candidate should have minimum of 4 years of relevant exp and below in DB2
• Having good knowledge in Db2 architecture
• having good experience to create objects like table and index creation requested by the application team
• Good experience in backup strategies like an online and offline backup.
• Good experience in restore database and apply logs up to point in time
• Good experience to create tablespace management like adding and resizing..
• Good experience in data movement utilities
• Granting permissions at the user level
• checking DB health check (Monitoring tools) PD, TOP
• Good exp in offline reorg/online reorg
• creating an instance and install DB2 products
• Having HADR knowledge -working
• Performance tuning(time issues)
• performing redirect restore between different servers
• tuning DBM and DB level configuration parameters
• knowledge in replication setups (SQL and Q) primary to standby
• how to tune queries- explain (current indexes)/advise plan(indexes)
• UPGRADING DB Versions / Rollback plan
• Perform database maintenance
• Troubleshoot the database for log files, rollback segments, table-spaces, database descriptors.
• Create definitions of logical data structures, tables, views, indexes, program specification blocks, stored procedures and define their relationships
• Follow naming conventions for database objects
• Set data storage parameters for storage associated with the physical elements of the database
• Estimate and recommend storage requirements
• Maintain and monitor the health and performance of RDBMS
• Analyze alerts and logs including trace files (including data block corruptions, Enqueue resources, internal errors, and I/O read-write failures), database changes, background job status, operating system logs read-write failures), database changes, background job status, operating system log
• Set up and implement database reorganizations
• Test and implement patches and upgrades
• Implement and manage security rules and access authority as per security policy
• Assist in RDBMS specific command selection (e.g., SQL, DL/I) to optimize performance
• Enable Proactive monitoring to ensure Minimal/ Zero system disruptions/performance issues/ outages.
• Incorporate takeaways from major incidents into monitoring to prevent repetitions.
• Perform any other day-to-day administration and support activities
